You may have been reading about the Police and Fire Chaplains Training Academy and saying, “I wish I could attend but I don’t have money for tuition or a meal ticket or travel or housing.” I don’t, or, I can’t, should not be a part of our vocabulary when a God given opportunity is before us. With God, there is always a way.
Here is how and where you can obtain funds to attend this upcoming May Academy:
First of all determine that it is what God wants for you. It is hard for me to imagine that he would bring you to chaplaincy and not want you to be totally prepared to do what he has called you to do.
Envision yourself attending the May Academy. I don’t mean the new agey kind of stuff, but allow God to convince you that where he shows you will go.
Then…Pray. The Scriptures are replete with “Pray, ask, seek…find” You know that he commands, and invites you to pray, so do it.
Ask God, ask his people for the funds. In these tough economic times you might be tempted to say, “The Department budget is cut, they can’t or won’t pay.” They are not the only ones who care about you and your ministry as a chaplain. Ask your church, parish council, synagogue or? They are invested in you and your skills. Ask your officer’s union or guild. They care about having an equipped, trained chaplain that serves them. Ask a local service club. They care about their community’s well being. In short, use your imagination, ask. Always ask with the idea that people are making an investment. Pray, ask, seek, find. The Lord will provide.
Contact me…I will be glad to help you think through how you can find funds. (I will be back in the country February 22. In the meantime you can e-mail me at pastrfuzz@aol.com)
